Robert Boyd
After a few years, ArtCrawls start running together. I heard this year that the owner of Winter and Spring Street had a falling out with Mother Dog Studios, which may account for the somewhat smaller than usual Art Crawl this year. I have no idea if this is true--treat it as idle gossip. My main problem is that I see the same artists and often the same art every year. I feel like I should give it a break for a few years and come back to see if there is anything new and exciting. Anyway, here is a selection of photos I took at Art Crawl this year.
Sleeping dogs at the Houston Foundry
Alex Tu's stew at the Houston Foundry
Dense83 (I think) updates The Immoral Mr. Teas
A wall of Kelly Alison birds (the blue spot is sunlight shining through a blue-tinted window)
A Kelly Allison bird
And another Allison bird
Ladies, any objections?
On a weird semi-derelict building at McKee and Nance
Art by Noah Edmundson. The kid in the foreground is yelling "AWESOME!"
Randall Kallinen doesn't just make art--he lives it
How are you gonna keep 'em on the farm once they discover fluorescent paint? (Shoes and pedestal by Randal Kallinen)
I don't know the name of this combo, but they were pretty good
